In which I Cycle 62k, Run 10k, and Swim zilch.
A familiar sight in Finsbury Park this week
Monday 5th January: A cold, grey morning with a quick couple of laps of the park and, to save a change of clothes and a shower, I peeled off a couple of layers and went straight out for a tiny (2k) run while I was already ‘warmed up’. Muscles and joints are still grumbling but I think I am beginning to show them who is the master. As long as I can rack up a few miles in these dead, dark days of winter it should be easy-peasy when the sun returns and being outside becomes a pleasure again. (C:10,R:2,S:0)
Tuesday. Another monotonously grey morning in London. Will we ever see the sun in 2015? Three laps of the park before tea and a mince pie. Each circuit is approx 2.3k; undulating, with one short, steep, calf-straining section followed by a lovely, lovely freewheel (in whichever direction). Giving the running muscles a day off though – I may need them later. (C:10,R:0,S:0)
Wednesday. Still grey but not as cold. A short bike ride (6k) followed by a short run (2k) followed by a long sit-down with a nice cup of tea. Timed running pace at 5’26″/km. (C:6,R:2,S:0)
